Documentation for mission: Operation Apahce Creator: Jonathan Chen (MastrMind3@aol.com) Creation Date: 7-96 Player: Nod (Uses GDI CD) Map: Large (61x61), Winter Theater Requires: Command & Conquer, CCEDIT v2.1, Covert Operations Tested On: 486DX2/66 Patch v1.19 Difficulty: Moderate Filename: APACHE.ZIP File Contents: SCG53EA.INI, SCG53EA.BIN, SCG53EA.PAT, APACHE.TXT Installation: Unzip the ZIP file then copy the INI and BIN file to your C&C directory, and just start up the game, and if you have Covert Operations, the mission should appear in the NEW MISSIONS menu. Alternatively, you can replace files using MIXMAN which is described at several places if you do not have Covert Operations. Note: A savegame was not included to save upload/download time and because that would cause you to miss out on the opening cutscenes. For this mission, some of the internal values were edited using CCEDIT v2.1 which you will need. The mission probably can be played okay without editing values, but it will be harder. Simply use the PATch file included with CCEDIT to import all values. The values changed... Attack Helicopter: Cost-$1500, Weapon Payload-6, Weapon Missle-Pack. Chinook: Build Level-13 Orca: Can Be Built-No Mission Description: We are taking heavy losses in Europe in large part due to GDI's use of of the powerful Orca. As a countermeasure we want to begin usage of our own attack helicopter. A neutral party has a testing site where they have several missle-packed Apache attack choppers. You are to go, disguised in GDI colors, and capture the testing site and all of the Apaches. Once you have them, test them out by using them to destroy the other nearby testing site. Level Description: In the beginning of the mission, all you get are Engineers, and soon more will be air-dropped. Fortunately, since it's a neutral testing site, you won't be attacked and can capture the entire base without conflict. However, once you have the base, you'll have to destroy the other air base which you will mainly be doing with 6 Apaches equipped with the same missles as Mammoth Tanks which are good against infantry and armor alike. Known Bugs: The cutscenes for this mission were only on the GDI CD so I had to make up the excuse of disguised in GDI colors. I tried making it normal Nod colors, but that caused a lot of problems with loading the game and the game asking for the Nod CD instead of GDI. The only problem this causes is that through the entire mission you will be in GDI colors, and even your logo will be GDI. Thanks to: Andrew Griffin and Vladan Blato for the software they both created and for being nice enough to answer the editing questions I posted. Han Brunger for a useful INI editing manual. Jeroen Ritmeijer and Richard Heesbeen for the really cool CCMAP. Finally: If you like this mission, or you hate it, please send me a comment at MastrMind3@aol.com. In particular, please send anything which may help me create future missions. Thanks.
