Documentation for mission: Hell Valley Creator: Jonathan Chen (MastrMind3@aol.com) Creation Date: 7-96 Player: GDI Map: Small (35x35), Desert Theater Requires: Command & Conquer, Covert Operations Tested On: 486DX2/66 Patch v1.19 Difficulty: Fairly Easy Filename: HELLVALY.ZIP File Contents: SCG51EA.INI, SCG51EA.BIN, HELLVALY.TXT Installation: Unzip HELLVALY.ZIP then copy the INI and BIN file to your C&C directory, and just start up the game, and if you have Covert Operations, the mission should appear in the NEW MISSIONS menu. Alternatively, you can replace files using MIXMAN which is described at several places if you do not have Covert Operations. Note: A savegame was not included to save upload/download time and because that would cause you to miss out on the opening cutscenes. Mission Description: On a patrol, one of our choppers has located a Nod base within a valley. The base and the entire valley are overgrown with Tiberium. It is believed that Nod has been conducting further Tiberium experiments here. The base appears to be under attack by an unknown force, it seems Nod's experiments have backfired upon them. You are to send a small force to investigate the Nod base. If it is confirmed that there is a bio-hazard, DO NOT attempt to engage. Instead, head north where you will find a crate of flares you should use to call support from a nearby air base to incinerate any bio-hazards. Level Description: I was mainly inspired to create this mission after seeing a cutscene, featured at the beginning of the mission, depicting a chopper flying over a Tiberium overgrown valley. You start with only a few squads of grenadiers and rocketeers. The entire valley is covered with Tiberium so trying to cross it would be suicide. To start out, you should kill the Turrets which will call APCs to help you out. Through all of this, you will see the Nod base fighting with the dozens of Visceroids that dot the map. Once you have your APCs, fighting would definitely mean your quick death. You will speed north where after a fight you will find the crate which will light the flare and allow you to call infinite Air Strikes. All that you will need to do from there is to kill all Visceroids on the map. Known Bugs: In order to allow infinite A-10s, I had to make the northern crate a money crate, this won't cause any real problems in the game play, except that it will look strange when you pick up the crate and it shows a money sign. Related to the infinite Air Strikes is that once you light the flare, you'll probably want to turn off the sound because E.V.A. will keep saying "Air Strike Ready" forever. Thanks to: Andrew Griffin and Vladan Blato for the software they both created and for being nice enough to answer the editing questions I posted. Han Brunger for a useful INI editing manual. Jeroen Ritmeijer and Richard Heesbeen for the really cool CCMAP. Finally: If you like this mission, or you hate it, please send me a comment at MastrMind3@aol.com. In particular, please send anything which may help me create future missions. Thanks.
